The company was founded 14 years ago by Murray Gornall. A musician who wanted to create a killer look for his set of drums after winning an online band contest to open for KISS on August 21, 2010. Justin Brown, the graphics design manager has a degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The two have partnered on what is now called Bum Wrap Drum Company.
